Snap. Split.
Square.
Photograph the bill. Stub reads it, works out who owes what, and keeps the receipt. There is no form to fill in.
Free, with no daily limit. No account needed to join a group.
Three things happen. You do one of them.
Snap
Screenshot the bill, the card receipt, the UPI confirmation — whatever you've got. Hit share, pick Stub. Or pay with Apple Pay and nothing needs capturing at all.
Split
The amount, the place and the date come across on their own. Equally, by percentage, by shares, or line by line — your pasta, their biryani, the wine halved.
Square
Stub asks the people who owe, on a timer, so you never have to bring it up. Settle in your own banking app — the money never passes through us.
No daily limit. Not now, not later.
You can log forty expenses on the day of a wedding and nothing will stop you. There are no ads between entries, no countdown before you can add the next one, and no feature that works for a week and then asks for money.
Stub charges for one thing: reading a bill line by line, which costs us money per receipt. Everything else — groups, every way of splitting, settling up, your whole history — is free and stays free.
- Unlimited expenses, every day
- No ads, anywhere, ever
- Friends join by link, no account
- Receipts read on your phone
- Export everything, whenever
€980 over three people is 326.67, 326.67 and 326.66.
Somebody has to take the odd cent. Stub decides who, says so out loud, and keeps a tally so it isn't always the same person. The parts always add back to exactly the total — you will never see a balance that doesn't close.
And every figure is tappable. Owed €316.07? Tap it and see the four expenses it came from. Nothing is a number you have to take on trust.
Four calculators that work right now
The app is still being built. These are not. No sign-up, nothing stored, and the same arithmetic the app will use — open one and get an answer.
When a trip ends, Stub prints a receipt.
Not a chart. A receipt — what it cost, who paid, who owed whom, and the line everyone wants to see at the end of a holiday: all square.
Send it to the group. It's the nicest thing anyone has ever posted about money.
Free is the whole app. Paid is the magic bit.
One person paying covers the people they're travelling with. Prices are lower where incomes are lower — India, Brazil, Indonesia and others pay a fraction of this.
Unlimited expenses. Every group. Every way of splitting. Settling up. Multi-currency balances. Your complete history, exportable. No ads.
Two weeks, and it covers everyone in that group. Then it stops on its own — there is nothing to cancel.
Bills read line by line, tax and service apportioned properly, receipts in one currency while you settle in another, and search across everything.
Coming from Splitwise?
Your history comes with you. On a computer, open splitwise.com, open a group, and choose Export as spreadsheet. Send that file to your phone and pick it in Stub.
Every expense, every amount, who paid, how it was split, and the balance it all adds up to. Comments and receipt photos don't survive the export — Splitwise leaves those out of the file, not us.
One file per group, and the export only works on their website. That part we can't fix for you.
Questions people actually ask
Is there a daily limit on the free plan?
No. You can add as many expenses as you like, every day, forever. There is no cooldown between entries and no ad before you can add the next one.
Do my friends need to download anything?
No. Send them a link and they can see the group, add expenses and settle up without an account, a password or the app. They can add an email later if they want it on a second phone.
How do I split a bill unevenly?
Four ways. Equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by helpings — one person counts as two if they had two. On a paid plan Stub reads the bill line by line and hands each item to whoever had it, with tax and service apportioned in proportion rather than split flat.
Does it handle more than one currency?
Yes, and it keeps them apart rather than converting. You can be owed €248 and owe £86 at the same time, shown as two separate balances. Converting at the time of entry bakes in a rate that is wrong by the afternoon, and converting at the time of reading makes your history unstable.
Do you see my receipts?
On the free plan, no — the picture is read on your phone and never leaves it. On a paid plan, reading a bill line by line needs more than a phone can do, so the image is sent for processing with your explicit consent, each time. You can keep a receipt attached to an expense as evidence, or have Stub delete it from your photos once it's saved.
Does Stub hold my money?
Never. Stub records who owes what; the money moves directly between you and your friends in whatever app you already use. We are a very careful notebook, not a bank.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Stub is on iPhone first. Android is next, and on Android it will be able to read payment notifications automatically — which is more than iPhone allows.
What happens if I stop paying?
Nothing locks. Every expense you ever logged stays visible, editable and exportable, and balances keep working. You simply stop getting new bills read line by line. Holding your own history hostage is the reason people leave other apps.
