Terms
Last updated 24 October 2026
These cover this website โ the calculators and the waitlist. The app has its own terms, which will appear here when it does.
The calculators are free to use
Use them for anything, as often as you like, personally or at work. No account, no limit, no attribution required. We would rather you linked to them than copied them, but we are not going to chase you.
Check the arithmetic before you rely on it
These calculators are built carefully. Every split is allocated so the parts add back to the exact total, the method is explained on each page, and the arithmetic is covered by tests. We still cannot promise the answer is right for your situation.
If money is going to change hands, check the numbers yourself. We are not liable for a bill split wrongly, a flatmate who disagrees with the rent, or any loss that follows from a figure on this site. You are responsible for what you agree to pay.
This is not financial advice
Nothing here is accounting, tax or legal advice. A rent split that looks fair on this page is not a tenancy agreement, and the figures carry no legal weight between you and anybody else.
Stub never holds your money
Stub records what people owe each other. It does not hold, move or transmit funds, and it is not a bank, a payment service or a money transmitter. Any actual payment happens directly between you and the other person, in whatever app or bank you already use, under their terms rather than ours.
The waitlist
Giving us your address means we may email you about Stub. That is the whole arrangement. Unsubscribe whenever you want, from any email. SeePrivacy for what happens to the address itself.
Joining the waitlist is not a purchase, a pre-order or a promise of anything. The app may change, it may be delayed, and it may never ship at all.
What is promised about the service
Nothing. The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, it may lose features, and it may close. This is a small project, run by one person, and it would be dishonest to promise uptime.
Pricing
The prices shown โ free, a three-dollar trip pass, nineteen dollars a year โ describe the app's intended pricing when it launches, including lower prices in lower-income countries. They are not an offer and may change before anything is actually for sale.
What belongs to whom
The design, text and code of this site are ours. Anything you type into a calculator stays yours, and since it never leaves your browser, we never have it.
Splitwise is a trademark of Splitwise, Inc. We mention it only to describe importing your own data, and we are not connected with them.
Changes
These terms may change. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use the site means the current version applies.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, where the maker is based. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove any rights your own country's law gives you.
